LiS worked on mobile because it's a three years old game that wasn't exactly demanding on hardware even in 2015. And despite that it still took a lot of work to get it ready for mobile (look at the delay between releases on Apple and then Android). LiS2 by comparison is trying to get closer to AAA games in graphics.
